I visited Shakespaw last spring and had such a lovely time! The best cat cafe I have been to for sure. Loved the decor and everything was kept very clean. My lunch and tea were delicious and the cats adorable! One of my favorite memories from the past year! I hope to be able to visit again sometime!
Visited Shakespaw back in April. My parents & I came all the way from Liverpool as part of a visit to Stratford, coincidentally, it came right after I'd finished a course at work! I couldn't think of a more perfect way to celebrate. This place is a cat lover's paradise, with so many beautiful residents. They're all rescue cats, to eventually be adopted out to forever homes. I actually received an email recently updating on some of the cats who had been adopted, which was lovely to hear & prompted me to finally write this review! I've been to many cat cafes across the country and, though I can't ever fault the cats themselves, some I have to question when it comes to their welfare. Not Shakespaw. It's clear the cats come first, and even clearer how happy they are! They were all in good spirits, very playful and curious. It was so nice to spend an hour & a half, enjoying the cats, the company and relaxing atmosphere. The food was spot on, and the decor is gorgeous too, with a quirky, vintage flair which makes you feel you're stepping into a bygone age. With cats! I only wish I lived closer. Highly recommended!
Literally our new favourite cafe We love it here ! The service is wonderful with very polite employees - thanks so much. The food is also amazing so we really enjoyed our lunch, especially the sandwiches and scones. And of course the cats are delightful and clearly cared for well, which is lovely to see :) We will 1,000% visit again and would recommend this cafe to all cat lovers
Went in today with my girlfriend and pre-booked with the hot drink cake offer. Safe to say the coffees and cakes do not disappoint, I had a "cat white" and red velvet cake and my girlfriend had an oat milk hot chocolate and the vegan salted caramel cake. But of course, the coffee and cakes are the side attraction of this place, the main being the cats! One of which, Horatio, even stole my seat then sat on our table! And Hamlet stole my girlfriend's seat the moment she stood up. The cats were all very friendly and more than happy to pose for some photos. You're free to walk around and pet and play with the cats as you please, just no waking them up!! Was absolutely worth every penny, we plan to visit again.
This was our second visit to the cafe, last time was back in 2023 & we were glad to come back. We’d booked our slot in advance online & greeted at the door. There is a ‘porch’ system, where one door is closed before you’re let in through the inner door. This is to make sure no kitties escape! We were shown to our table & introduced to some of the cats. We remembered a few from last time & there were a couple of new faces too. We ordered food & drinks; I had vegan cream cheese sandwiches & an oat rose hot chocolate & hubs had beef & horseradish sandwiches & a dirty chai latte. We walked around & went downstairs too & saw some more cats. You can pet them all you want and they are all very used to human interaction. The cheekiest is Leo, who would jump on your table to check out your food! Horatio was also a character, & knew exactly just how handsome he is with his big blue eyes! Our food & drinks were very tasty & the cafe has a lovely relaxed atmosphere. Because of this, it is very ND friendly. They also offer a good selection for veggies/vegans too! Thanks for a fab couple of hours!
This is a lovely cafe for cat lovers. Tasty food & drinks, & most importantly- very happy cats. You can absolutely tell they’re cared for & feel very relaxed. Their personalities are respected & more introverted cats have dedicated space for them so they can’t be petted while they’re resting. Leo’s love for sandwiches is very amusing to watch. For cat lovers- this is a magical place
Wonderful atmosphere, a charming cat cafe with very pleasant and empathetic staff. We ordered homemade cake that truly delighted our taste buds. The overall design and interior decorations are very creative, creating a warm and cosy vibe. The most important part, however, are the residents – the cats who have found a special place in our hearts. If you love cats and enjoy spending time in their company, this is the perfect place to relax and unwind. I wholeheartedly recommend it to all cat lovers!
The cats are clearly so comfortable around guests and staff. It’s not like in other cat cafes where they hide away (there are two floors and while we were there all 8 cats were upstairs with guests of their own will). The staff are very caring and the cats clearly love them dearly. The decision to not allow kids in definitely benefits the cats’ wellbeing greatly. The food and drink was great as well and they had lots of GF options.
